Islander Anna Mae Rice has taken her vow for 2008 - to read a book a month.

And Islander Helen Thackery has taken her vow - to shed some unwanted weight around her home and on her body. “My resolution is I want to lighten my load, so to speak,” Thackery said last Wednesday, as she browsed the book shelves at the Island Branch Library in Holmes Beach.
