Holmes Beach Police arrested two men following a traffic stop and discovered the vehicle they were riding in was stolen. Officers also found a loaded handgun and a ski mask in the glove compartment.

According to the report, Kory Freeman, 20, of Palmetto, was the driver of the stolen vehicle when police stopped it in the 4000 block of Gulf Drive early Saturday morning.

The vehicle had a stolen license tag on it and when officers ran the VIN number, it showed the vehicle was stolen, according to the report.

A record check indicated Freeman’s license suspended numerous times for failure to pay traffic citations.

Freeman and his passenger, Randy Elwood, 21, of Bradenton, were placed in custody.

A search of the vehicle revealed a loaded .765-mm handgun with eight rounds of ammunition in the magazine, and a ski mask.

Both men were arrested and charged with grand theft auto and possession of a concealed weapon by a convicted felon. Freeman was also charged with driving while license suspended with knowledge.
