Willard ‘Bill’ M. Bowman
Willard “Bill” M. Bowman, 72, of Bradenton, died Oct. 3.
Born in Palmyra, Mo., Mr. Bowman moved to Manatee County from Christman, Ill., in 1988. He was retired as a real estate agent from Wagner Real Estate in Bradenton. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was a member of the Moose Lodge, Bradenton Beach, and St. Bernard Catholic Church, Holmes Beach.
Memorial Mass was at the church Oct. 6. Brown and Sons Funeral Home, 43rd Street Chapel, was in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by wife of 48 years Mary; son Jeffrey of Aiken, S.C.; sisters Joyce Stewart of Hannibal, Mo., Joan Johnson of Overland Park, Kansas, and Carol Sestric of St. Louis, Mo.; brothers Anthony of Hannibal and Vincent of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; and two granddaughters.
Edmund G. Haverkos
Edmund G. Haverkos, 92, of Sevierville, Tenn., and formerly Anna Maria Island, died Sept. 29.
He was a contractor who built many of the homes on the Island in the 1950s through the mid-1970s, and a street was named for him. He was a former supervisor of public works in Holmes Beach. He was an active member of Kiwanis Club and vice commander of the Coast Guard Auxiliary.
Services were in Tennessee Oct. 2. No local services are planned.
He is survived by wife of 67 years Roselyn; daughters Carol Prater and Janice Gunderson and husband Bill; sons Ray and wife Cindy; sons Bruce and wife Jane; sister Mary Jane Neiheisel; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Margaret Stewart
Margaret Stewart, 84, of Holmes Beach, died Oct. 5.
Mrs. Stewart was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy WAVES, and later in the U.S. Army reserves.
Visitation was Oct. 7 and services Oct. 8, with full military honors. Mansion Memorial, Ellenton, was in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by husband Major Walter and daughter Sandy, both of Holmes Beach.
Catherine Szilagyi
Catherine Szilagyi, 86, of Bradenton, died Sept. 5.
Born in South Bend, Ind., She moved to Bradenton from Indiana in 1983.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 14, at the Moose Lodge, 100 Gulf Drive, Bradenton Beach. Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriner’s Hospital for Crippled Children, Tampa. Shannon Funeral Homes is in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by sister-in-law Julia Freeland; and brothers-in-law Lawrence and Louis. |
