Friends and family of Sue Normand have launched a website, www.supportsue.com, to provide updates on the Islander’s recovery and to welcome assistance.

Normand, 63, was shot on Dec. 5 just minutes after she opened her store, Island Mail & More, 3230 E. Bay Drive, Holmes Beach.

An hour later, law enforcement officers shot her alleged assailant on the beach in Bradenton Beach.

Both were taken to Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg.

The suspect, Mark W. Koenigs, 54, is now in the Manatee County jail facing multiple charges.

Normand remains at Bayfront, where she has been moved from the intensive care unit to a room. Part of the reason for launching supportsue.com is Normand, as a small business owner, lacks health insurance.
