Coast Guard med-evacs man from cruise ship

Crewmembers from the U.S. Coast Guard Station in St. Petersburg medically evacuated a 75-year-old man from a cruise ship near Egmont Key at about 11:15 a.m. Feb. 14.

Coast Guard officials received a call from the cruise ship Carnival Legend at about 10:30 a.m. requesting that Charles Moore, 75, be evacuated due to possible congestive cardiac failure.

A 41-foot motor lifeboat crew was launched to evacuate Moore, and he was taken to an awaiting emergency medical team dispatched to the Fort Desoto boat ramp in St. Petersburg.

Moore’s condition was unknown at islander press time.
