E-mails provided by Anna Maria City Commissioner Harry Stoltzfus under a public records request reveal the commissioner has some major disagreements with how Mayor Fran Barford is administering the city and staff.
Last week, as the additional e-mails became available, an Anna Maria resident called for a Florida Attorney General investigation of Stoltzfus under open government laws and the legal expert who initiated the public records request, Michael Barfield of Sarasota, said law enforcement officials should be called upon to investigate.

Anna Maria City Commissioner Harry Stoltzfus has no plans to quit the city commission over accusations that he used e-mails to discuss city business with other city officials.
Stoltzfus told resident Ken Rickett that he’s been wrongfully accused of violating the law.

Anna Maria resident Gene Aubry called on the city to have the Florida Attorney General investigate all e-mails about city business sent and received by Commissioner Harry Stoltzfus.
During public comment at the March 25 commission meeting, Aubry said he wanted to speak about elected and appointed officials “engaging in alleged violations of our Sunshine Laws.”

Anna Maria City Commissioner Harry Stoltzfus sent a memo to the city March 25, stating that he was “told by an attorney today (that) Michael Barfield admitted under oath in the Venice case to 68 felony convictions.”
Stoltzfus provided a statement to attendees at the March 25 city commission meeting indicating Barfield’s involvement and 10-year sentence in a federal conspiracy case.

William and Barbara Nally of Spring Avenue filed a lawsuit March 22 against the city, claiming the approval of a site plan for 216 Pine Ave. is inconsistent with the city’s comprehensive plan and land-development regulations.
The site plan was approved by the planning and zoning board Feb. 23 in a controversial 4-3 vote.

Four companies March 23-24 made public pitches to operate the concessions at Manatee Public and Coquina beaches, delivering presentations to a county recommendations committee.
P.S. Beach Associates’ five-year contract to operate both concessions expired last year, but the contract was extended due to periods when county work at the beach interrupted operations.

Remains found alongside Interstate-75 in Hillsborough County were identified last week as those of a woman missing for six years.
The woman was identified as Lisa Ann Mowrey, 18 at the time of her disappearance. She was last seen Feb. 26, 2004, leaving home to go to a hairstyling school in Tampa.

An undisclosed amount of money was taken, according to a Bradenton Beach Police Department report.
