TS Bonnie forms

The National Hurricane Center reported that a tropical depression in the Atlantic Ocean became Tropical Storm Bonnie at about 6 p.m. July 22.

NHC has issued a tropical storm warning for the Florida Keys, the Florida East Coast from Golden Beach south and the Florida Gulf Coast north to Bonita Springs.

NHC also issued a tropical storm watch for the East Coast from Golden Beach north to Jupiter Inlet.

The government of the Bahamas, meanwhile, issued a tropical storm warning.

As of July 22, the storm — the second named storm of the Atlantic season — was about 400 miles east-southeast of Key West.

The NHC said the storm forecast showed a general west-northwestward track across the Florida Straits and the keys and then into the Gulf of Mexico on mid-day July 23.
