July 22, 200 block of Coconut Avenue, information. A parking ticket was issued.
July 24, 9800 block of Gulf Drive, petit theft. Someone stole an 8-foot advertisement banner from the front of Dips Ice Cream store.
July 24, 200 block of Gladiolus Street, information. The complainant reported a window in the rear of her house had a crack in it and was worried someone may have attempted to enter. The Manatee County Sheriff’s Office deputy noticed a football on the ground by the window. The woman recalled some men playing football nearby, and the deputy said the damage to the window was consistent to a ball striking it.
July 24, 200 block of Spruce Avenue, criminal mischief. A sheriff’s deputy was dispatched in reference to criminal mischief. Upon arrival, a woman told the deputy someone had come into her yard, damaged some of her solar lights and removed rocks. The woman also said she had been making complaints to Manatee County utilities department for several months in reference to a dim street light on Tuna Street. The woman said she does not know who might have damaged her lights or removed her rocks. The total damage to the lights was $20.
July 27, 100 Sycamore Avenue, information. The complainant lost her purse containing a credit card, and United Kingdom driver’s license, a cash card and some makeup, valued at approximately $300.

July 24, 6000 Gulf Drive, driver’s license. A Holmes Beach Police officer noticed a man was driving across the Gulf Drive median several times. Upon stopping the driver, the officer found the vehicle tag to be expired and the driver’s license had been suspended. The driver was issued a notice to appear in court for driving on a suspended license.
July 24, 5600 Marina Drive, driver’s license. An officer was following a motorcycle driving southbound on Gulf Drive. The motorcycle had a flat rear tire, so the officer stopped the driver, who said he left his driver’s license at home. The officer learned the man’s license was suspended, and the driver was issued a notice to appear in court for driving with a suspended license.
July 25, 5904 Marina Drive, theft of a vehicle. An officer was dispatched to the Havana Cabana restaurant in reference to an attempted theft of a vehicle. The complainant said he had just returned from out of town when he noticed his camper vehicle had been pushed forward from its original parking space and into a drainage ditch by Marina Drive. He noticed wires to the ignition switch had been removed and thought someone had tried to steal the vehicle.
July 26, 5626 Gulf Drive, bad check. An officer responded to the Harrington House Bed and Breakfast in reference to a bad check. Arrangements were made for the suspect to repay the inn keeper.
July 26, 200 block of 71st Street, recovered vehicle. An officer responded to a report of a stolen vehicle. Upon arrival, the officer saw a vehicle parked on the side of the road that the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office indicated was stolen. The vehicle was recovered for the owner.
July 27, 5353 Gulf Drive, trespassing. An officer responded to a call of a possible shoplifter. The store owner said the suspect entered the store and was trying to buy beer. She said the suspect gave her a false identification and then walked out of the store without paying for a bag of ice. The owner said she tried to confront the man, who then kicked her and ran away. While an officer was conducting an investigation, the suspect returned to the store with his grandmother. The suspect said he did not try to steal the ice and was going to his truck to get money when the owner came out and scared him. The suspect said he panicked. The suspect was issued a trespass warning. |
