Sealand Whitney Landon III
Sheldon Whitney Landon III, 85, died at his home at the Lodge at Otter Creek on Jan. 23. He was born in Newark, N.J., April 13, 1925. He grew up in West Orange, N.J., and attended Millbrook Academy in New York, graduating in 1943.
He served in the U.S. Army in 1943, starting in officer candidate school at the College of Puget Sound, then serving in Patton’s Army in Europe. He lost a leg toward the end of the Battle of the Bulge. He started Princeton the next fall, ultimately majoring in engineering and architecture.
After graduation from Princeton, Mr. Landon went to sea for a couple of years, out of Seattle. He married Joan Johnson, and they settled in Vermont, where he commenced a career in cartography at the National Survey in Chester. He later worked at Readex Microprint Corp., (now Newsbank), also in Chester. The couple spent five years as innkeepers at the Old Tavern at Grafton. In retirement, they traveled the United States and England and established a home on Anna Maria Island.
A memorial service was to be held in Vermont.

Mr. Landon is survived by son S. Whitney IV, of Brooksville, Maine; daughter Mary S. of Burlington; four grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He also is survived by three siblings, Margot L. Visher of Cannon Beach, Ore., and Richard W. and Lisa L. Hewett, both of Williamsburg, Va.
Robert Edgar Normand
Robert “Bob” Edgar Normand of Tampa, formerly of Holmes Beach, died Jan. 23. He was born in Saco, Maine, Oct. 8, 1944.
Mr. Normand served in the U.S. Navy honor guard 1963-64, and later worked in the restaurant business, owned a furniture restoration business and taught disabled children. He was married to Sue Normand of Holmes Beach (1963-85).
There will be no service. Condolences may be made in care of Island Mail & More, 3230 E. Bay Drive, Holmes Beach FL 34217. Memorial contributions may be made to cancer research.
Mr. Normand is survived by Sue; son; Stephen; daughter Lisa; four brothers, Richard, Ronnie, Rene and David; three sisters; Rachel, Rita and Susan; as well as other family members in Sarasota, Tampa and New England.
Sean Patrick Quinn
Sean Patrick Quinn, 44, died Jan. 29.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 5, at Brown & Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory 26th Street Chapel. A second memorial service will be at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 5 at the Moose Lodge No. 2188, 110 Gulf Drive, Bradenton Beach. Brown & Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
