The Florida Department of Transportation will have several projects ongoing on Island bridges beginning April 28, and concluding May 12.
The DOT will have three intermittent lane closure periods on the Longboat Pass Bridge (State Road 789) in the next two weeks, beginning at 9 p.m. Friday, April 29, and concluding at 5 a.m. April 30.
The second lane closure period is from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday, May 1, through Thursday, May 5. The operation resumes Monday, May 9, for the same time period through Thursday, May 12.
Work crews will perform routine maintenance on the structure during the closures, the DOT said.
Motorists are advised to use caution while in the area and expect delays.
The DOT also will conduct overnight work including intermittent lane closures on the Cortez Bridge between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. Thursday, April 28, while work crews perform routine maintenance. A flagging operation will be in progress during the project.
The Cortez Bridge work is scheduled for completion in one night, according to the DOT.
Motorists are advised to use caution when driving on the bridges during construction.
