Anna Maria Island Turtle Watch and Shorebird Monitoring presents volunteer walker Carol Soustek with its top annual prize — the Sadie Award — during a banquet July 23 at the old fire house in Bradenton Beach. AMITW executive director Suzi Fox said Soustek “always is there when she’s needed.” The award is named for a rescued sea turtle and is presented each year to the AMITW volunteer who goes above and beyond for sea turtle conservation.
