Susan Thomas wants the woman she observed taking a leather office chair donated to her store Giving Back in Holmes Beach to feel bad about her deed and give it back.
Thomas said she dropped by her store July 17 and immediately noticed someone had left “a nice leather office chair” at her front door — a welcome donation. She planned to price the chair at $40 and sell it, noting that she “gives back” the proceeds she makes at the store on the resale of used household items and artwork to a variety of local charities.
She said a sign noting the charities she gives is posted at the door, close to where the chair was left, and she had stepped inside to prepare a price tag for the chair when she heard someone outside.
As she looked out the door, she saw a woman pulling away from the store with the leather chair and a dog in the back seat of a white Cadillac.
Thomas notified the Holmes Beach Police Department and she said she hopes the person who took the chair feels bad enough about taking from her charities to return it.
Giving Back is located at 5312 Holmes Blvd., Holmes Beach.
