Lisa Kaye (Smith) Gunn
Lisa K. (Smith) Gunn, 50, of Myakka City and formerly of Anna Maria Island, died Jan. 8. She was born Feb. 3, 1962, and raised in Bradenton. She lived in Myakka City since 2001.
She was a cheerleader and graduated from Southeast High School. She served four years in a U.S. Air Force combat unit.
Mrs. Gunn helped with her husband’s lawn and tree service, Gunn Enterprise. She will be missed, was loved by many and the life of the party.
Mrs. Gunn is survived by husband Jeff; son Trey Morgan; daughter Skylar Morgan; parents Robert and Kay Smith; brothers Tim and Andy Smith; stepchildren Nicole, Heather and Jeffrey Jr., and the Gunns’ five dogs.
Ruth Ann Niewyk
Ruth Ann Niewyk, 70, of Holmes Beach, died Jan. 20. She moved to Anna Maria Island from Ft. Wayne, Ind. in 2010. She was a teacher and educator.
A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, at the Brown and Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory 43rd Street Chapel, 604 43rd St. W., Bradenton. Mrs. Niewyk is survived by husband Anthony; son Robert of Oak Park, Ill.; daughter Alex of Honolulu; grandchildren Grace and Jonathan; and sisters, Kathleen Koets of Grand Rapids, Mich., and Jean Smith of Kalamazoo, Mich.
George F. Tooker, died Jan. 20. He was born Nov. 13, 1920, in Hoboken, N.J., to George and Eleanor Tooker.
After graduating from Dickenson High School in Jersey City, N.J., he became a first-class machinist. George served at Pearl Harbor as a machinist in the U.S. Naval Reserves.
After World War II, he lived in Teaneck and Bay Head, N.J., working as a machinist.
Mr. Tooker and late wife Agnes moved to Holmes Beach in 1976, where they restored houses. He was a member of Holy Name Society of St. Bernard Catholic Church, a member of the Anna Maria Island Art League and the Senior Adventures Club at Annie Silver Community Center.
A memorial Mass will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 248 S. Harbor Drive, Holmes Beach. Brown & Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory 43rd Street Chapel, Bradenton is in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be made online at www.brownandsonsfuneral.com.
