Dale Elizabeth Ruiz De Villa-Herbst died June 17. She was born Nov. 30, 1946, to Col. Donald and Dawn Herbst. She was a resident of Kansas City, Mo., and Anna Maria Island.
Her love for classical music influenced all around her. The family enjoyed her crochet projects, all of which will be cherished for years to come. Her everlasting love of laughter was embraced by all.
Services will be held June 29 at St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Kansas City, Mo. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Kansas City Hospice organization.
Mrs. Herbst is survived by her siblings, Dean of Milwaukee and Diane Schwartz of Chicago; her children’s father, Jerry L. Stafford; children Lance G. Stafford, Donald C. Stafford and Douglas H. Stafford; grandchildren Logan, Luke and Landon Stafford; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, Jessica Holt, Michelle and Dave Collings, friends and her favorite grand-dog Ellie.
William Kenneth Smith Jr.
William Kenneth Smith Jr., 25-year resident of Anna Maria, died June 4, just minutes before his 87th birthday. He was born and raised in Ford County, Ill.
At the age of 17, he left home to become a naval submariner. After World War II, he attended and graduated from the University of Illinois. He married his wife, Betsy, in 1953 and soon after moved to Cincinnati. In 1988, they became full-time residents of Anna Maria.
He died on the one-year anniversary of his wife’s death.
He was the sole proprietor for 50 years of William K. Smith Brokerage Co.

Mr. Smith is survived by brother Jack of Paxton, Ill., and Estero, Fla.; son Kenneth Gaige of Bradenton; daughter Wendy Kay of Cincinnati; grandsons William Kenneth III, Sutherland Gaige Smith and Cody Xavier Faulkner; and granddaughter Helen Katholeen Smith.
