A 26-year-old man was arrested Aug. 22 in the 100 block of 52nd Street by a Holmes Beach police officer and charged with two felonies after allegedly being caught entering an unlocked vehicle.
According to the probable cause affidavit, Michael Nemeth, who was identified as homeless, allegedly told police he entered the vehicle with the intent to steal valuables, but took nothing. A report said he described the interior of the vehicle to police and the items he saw inside.
While being arrested, police allegedly found a box containing a small pipe and a green substance that field-tested positive for marijuana. Police also found gloves and a flashlight.
Nemeth faces multiple charges, including felony vehicle burglary, felony possession of burglary tools, misdemeanor possession of marijuana and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
He was booked into the Manatee County jail and held on $4,000 bond. As of Islander press time, Nemeth remained in custody.
He is scheduled to be arraigned at 9 a.m. Friday, Sept. 13, at the Manatee County Judicial Center, 1051 Manatee Ave. W., Bradenton.
