Fay Erickson

Fay Erickson, 98, of Westfield, N.Y., and Anna Maria Island, died Sept. 2 in New York.

Mrs. Erickson was an avid bridge player and she loved Anna Maria.

Internment was at Evergreen Rural Cemetery, Portland, N.Y.

Mrs. Erickson is survived by daughter, Mary Lou and husband Gordon Bell of Scottsville, N.Y.; son Jay and wife Terry of Holmes Beach; and grandchildren David, Dawn, Deborah, Gregg and Jay II; 10 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

 

David A. Pomorski

David A. Pomorski, 56, of Bradenton Beach, died Sept 7. He moved in 1978 to Bradenton Beach from Erie, Pa.

He was a master shipwright, who learned his trade under the influence of his father, the late Martin Pomorski.

He went on to become a fine craftsman, inventor and artist and a good golfer. His passion was wooden boats, and he won many awards for his work through the years. He loved to sail, and his greatest joy was found in a little skiff, roaming the shallows of the bay south of Cortez.

Mr. Pomorski is survived by sisters Pam Chrzanowski of Erie, Pa., and Patricia McCarthy of Denver; brother Larry and wife Camille of Erie; Uncle Edward Jares of Erie; cousin Dan and wife Theresa; and many nieces and nephews and their children.

 

Dolores Jeanne ‘Geri’ Tyler

Dolores Jeanne “Geri” Tyler, 84, Bradenton, died Sept. 10. She was born Feb. 15, 1929, in St. Croix Falls, Wis., to the late John and Jeanne (Bonneprise) Fitzgerald.

She worked as a computer operator for Freeman Shoe Company in Beloit, Wis., and moved to Bradenton in 1984. She was co-founder and owner of Tyler’s Ice Cream with her husband Larry Tyler. She was a member and news editor of the Manatee PC Users Group, and tutored many in computer sciences. She also did computer-based arts and crafts.

Mrs. Tyler was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church in Holmes Beach.

A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 20, with a reception to follow in the activity center at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 248 S. Mrs. Tyler is survived by her husband of 39 years, West Manatee Fire District Commissioner Larry C. Jr.; sons Mark and wife Sue Barton of Eau Claire, Wis., Lonnie J. and wife Karla Barton of Waunakee, Wis., Paul and wife Kimberly Aumann of Two Rivers, Wis., and Michael and wife Jenny of Roscoe, Ill.; daughter Shannon Rasmussen of Winter Haven, Fla.; brother, Patrick and wife Shirley Hedrington of La Porte City, Iowa; sister Anita Riphahn of Fox Lake, Wis.; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many extended family members and friends.
