The Florida Department of Transportation has again delayed the start of its Cortez Bridge repair project, now slated to begin May 12. The DOT also changed the end date from January 2015 to spring 2015.
When the work gets underway, lane closures will be limited to 9 p.m.-5 a.m. weekdays. If the bascule has to be raised, it will be 2-3 a.m. weekdays for no more than 15 minutes, the DOT said.
The DOT is conducting a three-month long repair project on State Road 64/Manatee Avenue from the Perico Bay Club to Palma Sola Boulevard. Repairs include signage, sidewalks in selected locations, milling of road surfaces and drainage improvements.
A flagging operation to keep vehicles moving will be in place in the event of any lane closures. The project is expected to finish in late July.
