Robert E. Armstrong
Robert E. Armstrong, 96, of Holmes Beach, and formerly of DeGraff, Ohio, died July 23. He was born June 4, 1918, in Rosewood to the late Clarence E. and Mary Christine (Grove) Armstrong.
On Oct. 6, 1945, he married Carolyn Melhorn, and she preceded him in death in 2009.
A 1936 graduate of DeGraff High School, Mr. Armstrong taught the 1972-73 high school radio class. He also served as a school board member for 12 years.
The couple then moved to Florida and operated Haley’s Motel in Holmes Beach until 1979. He formerly owned and operated the Armstrong & Kinnan Hardware Store and the Shopperette Newspaper, both in DeGraff.
He had worked at the post office and was a HAM radio operator. He was known in DeGraff as an author and historian.

He is survived by his sons, Richard and wife Gloria of DeGraff, and Jerry and wife Darlene of DeBary, Florida; grandchildren Michelle and husband Patrick Neer, David and wife Rebecca, Joe and wife Misty and Kisha; great-grandchildren Ashley, Matthew, Lydia, Rosie, Renee and Rachel; stepgreat-grandchildren Tre Burnside and Devin Stallings; nephew Don and wife Anita Melhorn; and special friends, Steve and Kathy Nogle.
Orin ‘Buddy’ Elsworth Huston
Orin “Buddy” Elsworth Huston, 73, a longtime resident of Holmes Beach and Peachtree City, Georgia, died July 19. He was born in Fort Lauderdale.
He was a skilled craftsmen and avid fisherman. He was a 31-year employee at Home Depot.

Mr. Huston is survived by his wife of 53 years, Gail Ann (nee Kohlmeyer); children Garrett and Jennifer; grandchildren Owen, Rayner, Brice, Dalton and MacKenzie.
Richard R. Stewartson, 87, of Holmes Beach, and formerly of Concord, New Hampshire, died July 19.
He was born in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada, and raised in Concord, where he graduated Concord High School.
Mr. Stewartson enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served as an airplane mechanic during World War II. He was president of Bridge & Byron Inc. printers in Concord for 30 years.
He was a member of Concord Kiwanis Club, New Hampshire Graphic Arts Association, Concord Chamber of Commerce, Masonic Temple of Concord and helped coach the Concord Boys Youth Hockey League. He helped in a community effort to build the Canterbury, New Hampshire, ski area, where he and his family learned to alpine ski. Trips to Waterville Valley on weekends became a favorite pastime. He enjoyed summers at the family cottage at Silver Lake, New Hampshire. He loved sailing the lake after work and enjoyed golf.
Daughter Sue Quimby offered thanks to his caregivers in the past year and special mention of Jane Rodgers.
He is survived by his daughters, Quimby of Sanbornton, New Hampshire, Laurie Reid of Cameron Park, California, and Debbie Fitzgerald of Laconia, New Hampshire; five grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
