      Nancy Rae Carter Bennett, 76, of Anna Maria, died Nov. 12.

Mrs. Bennett was born in Akron, Ohio and moved to Anna Maria Island in 1972. She was retired from the Holmes Beach Police Department, where she worked from 1986 to 1995 as a clerk. Prior to her work at HBPD, she was employed by the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.

She had volunteered at the Anna Maria Island Community Center as softball coach, and also at Tracey Vita School of Dance and for the Manatee High School Marching Band.

She was known as “Ma” and “Grandma” by many.

Services were held Nov. 15 at Roser Memorial Community Church, 512 Pine Ave., Anna Maria. The American flag at Holmes Beach City Hall was lowered to half-mast Nov. 15 in Mrs. Bennett’s honor.

Mrs. Bennett is survived by husband Mel; son Robert and wife Teri; daughters Lezlie and husband Jeff Nance and Kelly and husband Dale Stephenson; grandchildren Jeremy, Kymberli, Alison, Abigail and Anabelle; great-grandchildren Carter and Lyla; sister Butch and husband Jim Carden; and brother Richard and wife Gale Carter.

 

Dennis Richard Lochrieobit-lochrie-dennis

Dennis Richard Lochrie, 59, of Bradenton Beach, died, Oct. 29. He was born Feb. 8, 1955.

Mr. Lochrie held a bachelor’s degree in science and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Michigan.

He was the former owner of Subway restaurant in Holmes Beach and before that he taught at the Bradenton Academy.

He was a caring man, had a great personality and found humor in every situation.

Mr. Lochrie is survived by his loving wife, Michelle; siblings Tim, Jack, Steve, Chris, Margo and Nancy; stepchildren Carly and Robin; son-in-law John and grandchildren Matthew and Langdon.
