Anna Maria

        Feb. 22, J. Lazzara Gallery on Pine, 507 Pine Ave., battery. Two people reported being battered by the other. They declined filing charges and signed waivers of prosecution.

Feb. 24, Galati Yacht Sales, 900 S. Bay Blvd., theft. An unknown person entered a yacht and removed three monitors, each valued at $7,500.

Feb. 26, 300 block of North Shore Drive on the beach, search. Thinking a kite surfer might be stranded off shore at about 9 a.m., a Manatee County deputy, marine unit and the U.S. Coast Guard searched the land, sea and air near Bean Point. Some floating equipment was recovered from the Gulf, but no one was reported missing and no one claimed the equipment.

Feb. 28, 500 block of Seagull Way, vehicle.  A White Ford F-150 was found abandoned and was recovered for another agency. Manatee County Sheriff’s Office determined the vehicle to be stolen out of Pinellas County.

Bradenton Beach

        Feb. 27, 2400 block of Gulf Drive North, battery. A cleaning woman for Wagner Realty filed a battery charge against her supervisor. The woman told Bradenton Beach police she was cleaning a unit when her supervisor came in, told her there was hair in a hot tub and hit her on her back. The supervisor told police she had struck her in a joking motion. Later that day, the woman went to the real estate office, where the supervisor asked for any unit keys in her possession. The woman left the office with the keys, which were retrieved by the officer.

Feb. 24, BBPD station, 403 Highland Ave., court order. Text messages sent Feb. 12-22 were reported as violations of a no-contact order issued Feb. 6 after an alleged battery involving roommates at a Bradenton Beach residence.

Bradenton Beach is policed by the BBPD.

Cortez

Feb. 23, Seafood Shack, 4110 127th St. W., theft. Two males were captured on surveillance cameras stealing two surveillance cameras valued at $600.

Cortez is policed by the MCSO.

Holmes Beach

Feb. 22, South Harbor and Gulf Drive, 0.02 violation.  Holmes Beach police stopped a 19-year-old Zolfo Springs man for speeding and the man told the officer he’d been drinking. The man provided two breath samples, measuring 0.078 and 0.081. The legal limit is 0.02 for persons under 21. When the motorist exited the vehicle, the officer noticed a box of ammunition in the side panel of the driver’s door. The subject confirmed there were weapons in the vehicle. Police found a Ruger .22 caliber firearm and 12-guage shotgun, along with three open containers of alcohol behind the driver’s seat. The motorist was ticketed for open container, speeding, expired registration and sunscreen violations and the firearms taken to HBPD.

Feb. 26, Publix Super Market, 3900 E. Bay Drive, theft. A Bradenton woman was ticketed for stealing a $9 package of sushi. She also was issued a trespass warning from the store.

Feb. 26, 100 block of 47th Street, criminal damage/trespassing. An owner reported his neighbor hired a man who chain-sawed hedge plants valued at $500 without his permission. The owner told police he saw the neighbor’s landscaper preparing and cutting down his hedge and told him to stop. Another witness saw the landscaper cutting the plants and told him to stop. HBPD obtained sworn affidavits from the witnesses.

March 1, Regions Bank parking lot, 503 Manatee Ave., A homeless man was arrested at 6:20 p.m. for allegedly stealing shirts, yelling and cursing for two hours and urinating in public. HBPD responded to a report of a disturbance and observed the man urinating. Two shirts with price tags still attached were found in his possession and determined to be $42.38 of stolen merchandise from the store Alvin’s Island. A Bradenton woman also was arrested for yelling and screaming in connection with the disturbance.

Holmes Beach is policed by the HBPD.
