Bradenton Beach

      May 14, Cortez Beach, 700 Gulf Drive S., lewd and lascivious. An unknown male approached a female on the beach and took a “selfie” with her. After they walked away from each other, the woman saw the man fondling himself. Another witness reported similar activity by the same man. The second witness advised the man he was calling the police and the man fled. A third witness told a responding officer he and videotaped the suspect as he took pictures of women on the beach.

May 16, 2400 block of Avenue B, domestic disturbance. A relative called police to report a dispute concerning her daughter and live-in boyfriend. An officer responded and the woman told police they argued. There were no signs of physical violence. The boyfriend left the area.

May 16, 135 Bridge St., Marchman Act. An officer responding to a call about an intoxicated person found a man on the Monkey Bus cursing and refusing to get off the bus. The officer assisted the man to a nearby bench. The officer reported the man’s judgment and motor skills were impaired due to substance abuse, detained him under the Marchman Act and he was transported to a care facility.

Cortez

May 2, 4300 block of 127th Street West, grand theft. An unknown person stole a trailer containing three dirt bikes from a storage area. The property was valued between $10,000 and $20,000.

Cortez is policed by the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.

Holmes Beach

May 8, 4100 block of Sixth Avenue, domestic battery. A 42-year-old woman was arrested and taken to Manatee County jail after police responded to a call, observed bruises and contusions on a man’s face and interviewed opposing parties. Upset about Mother’s Day gifts, the woman allegedly threw cups, broke dishes and hit her husband with her hands and a coat hanger. The woman said the injuries occurred when the man fell on his bike.

May 9, 3500 Gulf Drive, battery and theft. A man who fell asleep about five blocks south of the lifeguard tower at the Manatee Public Beach woke up to find his bag with identification and credit cards stolen. When he asked two men what happened to his bag, one man hit him in the face, causing a bloody nose and loose teeth. The man reported the incident to the lifeguard and EMS was called. A request to the state attorney’s office for the suspect’s arrest was issued.

May 12, 100 block of 73rd Street, theft. A paddleboard and paddle valued at $1,000 were stolen.

May 12, 600 block of Manatee Avenue, battery. A juvenile reported her boyfriend hit her three times in the arm, once in her mouth and also punched her leg. Police responded and observed a bruise the size of a baseball on her arm. The juvenile showed police Facebook posts from the boyfriend, including a threat to her. Holmes Beach Police Department referred the juvenile report to the state attorney’s office.

May 13, Publix Super Market, 3900 E. Bay Drive, theft. A 40-year-old Michigan woman reported her purse, checkbook, money and money clip, with an estimated value of $190, were stolen from her vehicle while she shopped.
