Homeless man arrested inside Key Royale residence

Holmes Beach police arrested a homeless man inside a Key Royale residence Monday, March 13, after he was discovered inside the home without permission.

Calvin Meekins, 19, told police he was planning on sleeping inside the house in the 700 block of Key Royale Drive, but admitted he had not been given permission to enter the premises. He was unable to give police a permanent address.

Meekins was arrested and charged with burglary. He was taken to the Manatee County Jail where he was held on $10,000 bond. According to Manatee County Sheriff’s Office records, Meekins has been arrested twice before for burglary and once each for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of marijuana, possession of cocaine and domestic battery.
