HB commission to set outdoor dining fee
The Holmes Beach City Commission was scheduled to take up a resolution Tuesday setting an application fee for outdoor dining seats at $100.
The city hall meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 14, took place after The Islander’s deadline this week.
The agenda included the resolution on outdoor dining fees and the appointment of Thomas Creed to the code enforcement board.
At a work meeting scheduled to follow, the commission planned to discuss concerns and questions about off-street parking, overnight parking of commercial vehicles in residential districts, and parking of boats and trailers in residential districts.
At 6 p.m., prior to the regular meeting, the commission was to hold a special meeting on litigation between the city and two property owners.
The case, Holmes Beach vs. Jack and Diane Crawford, involves a dock in the 600 block of Ambassador Lane and dates to the spring of 2007, when the city notified the Crawfords of an alleged code violation. According to the city, the dock encroaches on adjacent property.
The city’s complaint seeks a court order that the Crawfords “remove and demolish all portions” of the dock and boat lift “that violate provisions” of city code.
An attorney representing the Crawfords previously has asked the city to withdraw from the issue and let the Crawfords and their neighbor settle the case.
But the matter has moved — slowly — in the civil circuit court system.
