William F. Barranger Jr.
William F. Barranger Jr., 81, of Holmes Beach, died March 28.
Born in Baltimore, Md., Mr. Barranger came to Manatee County from Walpole, Mass., in 2004. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Memorial services were April 2. Brown and Sons Funeral home was in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by wife of 56 years Priscilla; daughter Lynne Carlson and husband Michael of Walpole, Mass.; sons Jay and wife Janette of Lanesboro, Mass., and Jack and wife Nancy of Laguna Hills, Calif.; and grandchildren Stephanie, Jennifer, Wesley, Jannie and Lindsey; and niece Susan.
Betty Ann Beer
Betty Ann Beer, 85, of Bradenton, formerly of Holmes Beach, died March 31.
Born in Monroe, Wis., she moved to Manatee County in 1971.
Mrs. Beer was a retired bank teller with Wachovia Bank in Holmes Beach. She was a member of Roser Memorial Community Church and First United Methodist Church in Monroe. She was a charter member of VFW Post 2312 Auxiliary in Monroe, and a member of Moose Lodge of Bradenton Beach and American Legion Kirby Stewart Post 24, Bradenton.
Memorial services will be at a later date in Monroe. Griffith-Cline Funeral Home, Bradenton, was in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by son A. Grant Beer of Bradenton; sister Edna Holcomb of Monroe; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Martha Elizabeth Carnes
Martha Elizabeth Carnes, 89, a 45-year resident of Holmes Beach, died March 31.
Mrs. Carnes was born in Bluffton, Ind. She was a retired obstetrics nurse at Manatee Memorial Hospital.
Memorial services were April 5 at Griffith-Cline Funeral Home, Bradenton. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Palm Beach County, 5300 E. Ave., West Palm Beach FL 33407.
She is survived by son Thomas Carnes and wife Kay of North Palm Beach, Fla.; daughter-in-law Jennifer of Tallahassee, Fla.; niece Nancy Laszczewski of Chicago, Ill.; grandchildren: Jim and wife Donna of Surprise, Ariz., Laura Creeden and husband Kris of Clermont, Fla.; Amy Etter and husband Chris, Renee Carlson and husband Tony; Melissa Roy and husband Leon, Ben, all of Tallahassee; and Chris and wife Jennifer of Stuart, Fla.; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Ann Maher
Ann Maher, 81, of Holmes Beach, died March 31.
Mrs. Maher moved to Anna Maria Island 31 years ago. She was a volunteer with Selby Gardens in Sarasota and the Anna Maria Island Chamber of Commerce. She was a member of the St. Bernard Catholic Church in Holmes Beach. She was an accomplished quilter, knitter and gardener.

Jack H. Shinn
Jack H. Shinn, XX, of Anna Maria, died April 3. He was born in Jackson, Mich., and came to Anna Maria 22 years ago.
Mr. Shinn is survived by wife Evelyn, daughters Jackie Shinn of East Lansing, Mich., and Sharon Corey of Newport Beach, Calif.; grandchildren Juliann and Lynn and five great-grandchildren.
Doris E. Stenberg
Doris E. Stenberg, 91, of Bradenton, died April 3.
Ms. Stenberg came to Bradenton in 1990 from Fort Lauderdale.
A memorial service will be held at ll a.m. Thursday, April 10, at the chapel of Roser Memorial Community Church, 512 Pine Ave., Anna Maria.
