Couple arrested for home burglaries
A Holmes Beach man and a Bradenton woman were arrested June 11 in connection with numerous home burglaries. Some property was recovered, but most already had been pawned by the couple to “fuel their drug habits.”
Manatee County Sheriff's Office detectives and Bradenton Police detectives arrested Matthew Thomas Miller, 22, 6401 Marina Drive, Holmes Beach, and Kelli Marie Hogan, 20, whose addresses were listed as the 3600 block 21st Avenue West and the 3000 block of 14th Street West, Bradenton.
Detectives say Miller and Hogan were involved in several burglaries in Bradenton and in the Manatee County area.
According to the report, the pair admitted to forcefully entering a residence on June 6 in the 7800 block of Portosueno Avenue West in the Palma Sola area, where they stole jewelry, several firearms, a hunting bow and collector coins. Hogan allegedly assisted Miller in loading the stolen items into a waiting vehicle. The loss was estimated at $8,100 dollars.
MCSO said Miller also admitted taking a coin collection and jewelry from a house in the 5000 block of 19th Avenue West, where a witness jotted down the tag number for the white Chevy S-10 pickup that Miller used.
Miller also admitted to a June 9 burglary in the 7500 block of 27th Avenue West. In that burglary, a TV, jewelry, DVDs and a watch were taken.
A residence in the 7800 block of 24th Avenue West was burglarized June 10 by Miller.
On June 11, Miller was stopped by Bradenton police in his white Chevy S-10 pickup truck with Hogan a passenger. Police said they found several items of jewelry in the vehicle.
Miller was arrested for driving on a suspended license, while Hogan was detained for questioning.
Miller then admitted to detectives the numerous burglaries and Hogan admitted to the burglary on June 6.
Several firearms were recovered. Other items had been pawned by Miller and Hogan.
Hogan was charged with armed burglary and dealing in stolen property.
Miller was charged with one count of armed burglary, six counts of burglary, and three counts of dealing in stolen property, along with the charge for driving on a suspended license.
