Anna Maria zoning board declines bank vacation request

Anna Maria’s planning and zoning board at its Sept. 2 meeting decided against a request from Horizon Bank for the city to vacate a portion of property it owns at Palm Avenue where it intersects South Bay Boulevard

Board members deemed it was not in the city’s best interest to vacate the property, which is adjacent to the now-defunct Villa Rosa project. Horizon Bank acquired some of the former Villa Rosa property through default and the bankruptcy of former Villa Rosa owner GSR Development LLC.
