Sept. 2, 800 block North Shore Drive, theft. The complainant
said someone took her floating chair, which was anchored
on the beach and held her cell phone.
Bradenton Beach
Sept. 3, 1800 Gulf Drive S., Coquina Beach, fleeing
to elude. Officers observed a vehicle swerving in traffic,
then passing cars illegally, then accelerating when
officers activated lights and siren. The car was eventually
stopped and the driver charged with fleeing to elude
and taken to jail.
Sept. 3, 2000 block Gulf Drive South,
Coquina Beach, drugs. Officers stopped a vehicle for
having an expired license tag and observed what later
was identified as a marijuana cigarette on the center
console of the vehicle. The driver, Garcia M. Willie,
24, of Bradenton, was subsequently found to have more
marijuana in his vehicle and he was arrested.
Sept.
3, 100 Bridge St., Bridgewalk Resort, burglary. The
complainant said someone took stereo equipment and
other material from his pickup truck, then set the
truck on fire. Officers canvassed the area and located
the stereo equipment in a parked car and subsequently
arrested the suspect.
Holmes Beach
Aug. 31, 500 block 71st Street, criminal mischief.
The complainant said someone, who he suspects to be
his soon-to-be-ex-wife, painted graffiti on his utility
trailer.
Sept. 1, 4000 Gulf Drive, Manatee Public
Beach, drinking. Officers observed a man and woman
drinking beer and both were given trespass warnings
for violation of a county ordinance that prohibits
drinking alcoholic beverages at the beach.
Sept. 1, 4000 Gulf Drive, Manatee Public
Beach, battery. The complainant said she observed a
man being beaten by a woman, who was later identified
as his daughter, who kicked him in the testicle area,
according to the report. The daughter then left. The
father refused to press charges, but a capias for domestic
battery was requested.
Sept. 2, 100 block
51st Street, battery on spouse. The complainant said
his estranged wife was being bothered by an ex-live-in
boyfriend. Officers saw the woman and ex-boyfriend
arguing. He was issued a trespass warning. She said
the ex-boyfriend had battered her and bruised her legs,
which officers photographed and, pending her filing
formal charges, the case is pending.
Sept. 4, Gulf and Harbor drives, suspicious. The complainant
said a middle-aged white male had been driving in the
area at about the time school lets out for several
days. He is reported to be driving a newer-model black
Jeep with silver accents, according to the report.
Sept.
5, 3400 block Gulf Drive, driver’s
license. While conducting a speed check, officers stopped a vehicle driving above
the posted speed limit. A record check revealed the driver’s license was
classed as a “habitual traffic offender.” He was arrested for unlawful
speed and driving with license revoked.
Sept. 5, 100 block 55th Street, theft.
The complainant said someone took tools from his house.
Sept. 5, 4000 Gulf Drive,
Manatee Public Beach, driver’s license. Officers observed a male suspect
driving his motorbike through the beach parking lot “about as fast as it
would go,” according
to the report. Officers pursued the driver and eventually stopped him. Record
checks revealed his license was revoked and he was arrested.
Sept. 6, 500 block
Key Royale Drive, suspicious. The complainant said
that he suspected a neighbor had cut the brake lines
on his vehicle. Officers could initially find no sign
of a cut and, although the 1993 vehicle did show signs
of wear on its brake lines, there was no evidence of
brake fluid on the parking lot. Subsequent investigations
indicated that the line may have indeed been cut, there
was a small amount of fluid on the parking lot, but
it was unclear whether or not it was from the resident’s
vehicle or another vehicle and no further action was taken.
Sept. 6, 4900 block Fourth
Avenue, DUI. Officers responded to a call of a suspicious
vehicle and arrested Mark Michalsen, 40, of Sarasota,
driving under the influence. |
