Island police blotter – 12-04-2013

Anna Maria

    • Nov. 18, 10000 block of Gulf Drive, fraud. A complainant reported a family member received a letter from the Internal Revenue Service stating someone attempted to file a tax return using her Social Security number. The tax return was rejected. A second conversation revealed the complainant is in college and is being claimed as a dependent and a second tax return might have been filed under the same Social Security number, which possibly caused the issue with the IRS.

Anna Maria is policed by the MCSO.

Bradenton Beach

    • Nov. 20, 100 Gulf Drive N., Island Time Bar and Grill, battery. A man called the MCSO to report a shuttle service driver attacked him. The complainant said he was drinking at a bar and flagged down what he believed was a shuttle service, but changed his mind and wanted to leave upon arrival. The man said the driver pulled over and began punching him in the face, threw him to the ground and continued hitting him. The deputy observed a slightly swollen eye on the suspect, but no other injuries. According to the report, the complainant was “very intoxicated” and his story became inconsistent the more he told it. He admitted that he may have been belligerent, but said the driver should not have attacked him.

Bradenton Beach is policed by the BBPD.

Cortez

• Nov. 22, 4400 block of 123rd Street Court West, grand theft. A complainant reported that someone stole a hydraulic jack from his backyard while he was in the hospital.

Holmes Beach

• No reports available.
