5 p.m. - Miracle Night Out benefiting Kids Miracle Partners takes place at the Studio at Gulf and Pine in Anna Maria. Information: 941-779-2014.

8 p.m. - The curtain opens on “Noises Off” at the Manatee Players theater, 102 Old Main St., Bradenton. The play continues Tuesdays through Sundays through Oct. 21. Information: 941-749-1111.

 

Friday, Oct. 5

5 p.m. - The Anna Maria Island Chamber of Commerce holds a ribbon-cutting ceremony at Sato Real Estate, 519 Pine Ave., Anna Maria. The ceremony coincides with Sato’s regular First Friday party. Information: 941-778-1541.

6 p.m. - A program takes place on saving seeds for replanting at the Emerson Point Preserve in Palmetto. Information: 941-748-4501, ext. 4605.

8:30 a.m. - The Kiwanis Club of Anna Maria Island meets for a program and a breakfast at Cafe on the Beach at Manatee Public Beach, 4000 Gulf Drive, Holmes Beach. Information: 941-778-7823.

9 a.m. - Keep Manatee Beautiful coordinates a coastal cleanup campaign at various locations on the Island and the mainland, including the beaches and Kingfish Boat Ramp. Information: 941-795-8272.

11 a.m. - The Cortez Yacht Club hosts the 2007 Cortez Club Regatta, which begins at the Seafood Shack Marina in Cortez. Information: 941-780-3547.

6 p.m. - Taste of St. Armands, with food from 18 restaurants and the music of the Mike Markeverich Trio, takes place outdoors at St. Armands Circle in Sarasota. Information: 941-388-1554. Fee applies.

  • The Anna Maria Island Community Center, 407 Magnolia Ave., Anna Maria, offers a range of courses for adults and children Mondays through Saturdays, including cooking, dance, fitness and art classes. Information: 941-778-1908.
  • Mote Marine Aquarium holds Sharktoberfest throughout October, featuring a variety of programs and presentations. Also, each child at the gate with an adult enters for free and receives a treat bag. Information: www.mote.org or 941-388-4441.

  • On the last Saturday of each month, the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 82 hosts a basic “America’s Boating Course” in the Buchanan Room at Mote Marine Aquarium, 1600 Ken Thompson Pkwy., Sarasota. Information: 941-358-2068. Fee applies.
  • On the second Saturday of each month, the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 82 holds a “GPS for Mariners Course” at 10 a.m. at the Mote Marine Keating Center, Mote Marine Aquarium, 1600 Ken Thompson Pkwy., Sarasota. Information: 941-358-2068. Fee applies.
  • At 7 p.m. on the second Wednesdays of each month, Sweet Pea’s, 5350 Gulf Drive, Holmes Beach, hosts “Pet Tales” for pet lovers. Information: 941-778-1989.

  • On Nov. 9, the Island arts community partners for theIsland Art Walk at Holmes Beach, which takes place at the Island Gallery West, Artists Guild of Anna Maria Island, Anna Maria Island Art League, Restless Native and Essence of Time. Information: 941-778-2099.
  • In November, the Anna Maria Island Community Center, 407 Magnolia Ave., Anna Maria, will celebrate its grand opening with the public. Information: 941-778-1908.
  • On Dec. 7, the Holmes Beach merchants host the annual “Downtown Holiday” celebration with visits from Santa and the Anna Maria Island Privateers, as well as music, refreshments and shopping in the Gulf and Marina drives area.
  • The Anna Maria Island Art League’s Winterfest takes place Dec. 8-9 in Holmes Beach at the field next to city hall. Information: 941-778-2099.
