Anna Maria
• March 24, 9000 block of Gulf Drive, petit theft. The Manatee County Sheriff’s Office investigated a report that a man and woman left the Sign of the Mermaid without paying their $185 bill. The couple had provided a credit card that was not valid.
• March 26, 900 block of South Bay Boulevard, accident. The MCSO assisted the Florida Fish and Wildlife and emergency medical service with a response to a personal-watercraft accident in Tampa Bay. Two people involved in the accident were brought to Anna Maria, where one was treated and taken to the hospital.
• March 26, 300 block of Pine Avenue, theft. A representative from Pine Avenue Restoration reported to the MCSO that someone stole material from a construction site about three weeks earlier. The property was valued at $1,000.
• March 28, 200 block of North Bay Boulevard, accident. Two people were riding rented Segways along Bayfront Park when one woman fell and was hit by the other’s Segway. The woman was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. She had declined to wear a helmet.
Bradenton Beach
• March 29, 100 block of Gulf Drive S. Bradenton Beach Police Department arrested a man for burglary to a car after he allegedly was captured on video stealing a purse.
Cortez
• March 25, 4000 block of 123rd Street West, identity theft. The MCSO investigated a report of identity theft. A woman said someone used her identity to open an account at an online dating website and that she was receiving telephone calls and text messages from men.
Holmes Beach
• March 25, 72nd Street and Marina Drive, burglary. The Holmes Beach Police Department investigated a reported burglary on a boat at a city dock. Someone pried open a door and took a fish finder and an emergency radio. Fingerprints were taken from the vessel.
• March 26, 6500 block of Gulf Drive, criminal mischief. HBPD investigated a report from a resort, where someone entered the pool, defecated in the pool and spray-painted graffiti on a fence.
• March 26, 65th Street beach access, criminal mischief. An HBPD officer discovered that someone spray-painted graffiti on a bench at the beach access.
• March 26, 6200 block of Holmes Boulevard, theft. A resident reported the theft of a box of wine from his garage. An officer then found a juvenile walking with the wine box, which was photographed and returned to the resident.
• March 26, White Avenue beach access, public drinking. An HBPD officer found a group of people on the beach, including juveniles, with alcohol. Parents were called and the alcohol was disposed of at the scene.
• March 29, 2700 block of Avenue C, domestic battery. HBPD and MCSO responded to a dispute that involved a man and a woman. The man was arrested for allegedly grabbing the woman, cutting her face and ripping her shirt.
