Bradenton Beach police officers arrested resident Zachary Winton Aug. 31 on four felony charges: aggravated assault of his partner with a deadly weapon without intent to kill, battery, false imprisonment and witness tampering.
The Bradenton Beach Police Department was dispatched to a call about an unstable man with a knife held to a woman’s throat.
When BBPD officers arrived, Winton, 34, was screaming at a woman, according to the police report.
The officers drew their tasers and issued verbal commands to Winton to stand down. He complied, was detained and a search found him in possession of two knives.
The woman said she tried to leave as they began fighting, but was prevented by Winton, who threatened her, putting a knife to her throat.
Winton denied the allegations.
He was brought to the BBPD for processing, where he allegedly made several threatening statements about what he would do to the woman upon his release.
A Manatee County Sheriff’s Office deputy transported Winton to the Manatee County jail Aug. 29.
Winton was released Sept. 1 after posting a $16,000 bail.
A court date has yet to be set.
