Nachtigal new Ward 3 commissioner in Bradenton Beach
And now there is one, as Bradenton Beach city commissioners appointed Rob Nachtigal to serve as the Ward 3 commissioner.
Nachtigal, 54, will serve out the rest of Peter Barreda's term - until November 2005 - due to his resignation over business and health matters.
Nachtigal is a sales representative for Ward Oil Co. Inc. in Tampa. He has been a territorial manager for several petroleum companies in Florida and the southeast in the past few years, and is a former program administrator for the Manatee County School District. He is a veteran of the U.S. Navy, and received a bachelor's degree from the University of West Florida.
"I'm at your service," he told commissioners, adding that his work schedule was very flexible and could accommodate city commission meetings and work sessions.
Nachtigal also said he favored a city manager for Bradenton Beach "if the budget can afford it. It would be an ideal situation.
The other short-listed candidate, Tammy Barr, received the lone endorsement of Mayor John Chappie, while Vice Mayor Anna O'Brien and Commissioners Lisa Marie Phillips and John Shaughnessy favored Nachtigal.
He was sworn into office June 17 and will attend his first city commission meeting June 23.
