Accident victim requires helicopter transport

A Valrico man was treated at the scene and then sent by air medical transport to the hospital after a vehicle accident on Marina Drive in Holmes Beach June 26.

Casey Keith Albritton, 22, was taken to Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg by Bayflite helicoptor after crashing his vehicle at about 1 p.m. June 26.

Albritton was driving south when he apparently suffered a seizure or some other medical condition that caused a blackout, according to a Holmes Beach police report.

Albritton’s Oldsmobile went out of control, crossed the center line and hit a concrete sign on the east shoulder of Marina Drive in the 6200 block, near the intersection with 62nd Street.

The report indicated that Albritton was traveling at the posted speed, 35 mph.

The vehicle suffered about $8,000 in damages.
