The eastbound sidewalk on the Cortez Bridge remains closed while a Florida Department of Transportation maintenance and repair project is ongoing. The westbound sidewalk is open for pedestrians and cyclists.
The eastbound lane will be closed occasionally at night for repairs. A flagging operation will take place as needed. Night repairs are from 9 p.m.-6 a.m. Sunday through Thursday.
The project is not expected to finish before late January.
The DOT also reported Florida Power & Light continues to replace power poles on Gulf Drive/State Road 789 from the Cortez Road intersection to 28th Street North in Holmes Beach and to 11th Street South in Bradenton Beach.
FP&L crews also are replacing poles on Cortez Road from 103rd Street West to 117th Street West, the DOT reported.
