A road rage incident spilled into Holmes Beach when a Riverview man crossed the Anna Maria Island Bridge.
Darryl M. Ramsey, 50, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a firearm by Bradenton police at about 1 p.m. Feb. 28, according to a BPD officer’s probable cause affidavit.
Holmes Beach police stopped Ramsey’s vehicle after it crossed the bridge.
Ramsey allegedly pointed a 9-mm Beretta at a driver of another vehicle at 26th Street West as they traveled west in Bradenton.
The suspect continued west and the victim called 911, according to the BPD report.
Police allegedly found Ramsey with a loaded firearm holstered to his right side in the 9900 block of Manatee Avenue West.
After the arrest, the defendant allegedly admitted to pulling out his firearm, saying the victim gave him the finger, according to the BPD report.
The report also stated Ramsey told police he wished he hadn’t done it, but was angry after being flipped off. The suspect also allegedly told police he was under the influence of alcohol.
Ramsey was booked at the Manatee County jail.
A $50,000 bond was set, according to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office website.
Ramsey’s court date was set for 9 a.m. Friday, April 10, at the Manatee County Judicial Center, 1051 Manatee Ave. W., Bradenton.
