The 12th Judicial Circuit State Attorney closed the case against a Cortez man arrested in connection with an altercation in downtown Bradenton.
Demetrios George Kokolis, 23, was arrested in September 2014 by the Bradenton Police Department for an alleged aggravated battery, according to a BPD report.
The state attorney filed a court paper Jan. 29 declining to file the charge, claiming in a memo that the state had insufficient evidence to prove the charge and rebut an anticipated claim of self-defense.
