Kay King Anderson
Kay King Anderson, 61, of Anna Maria, died April 11.
She was born Dec. 24, 1953, in Havre de Grace, Maryland, to the late Lyle E. and Emmalena (Atteberry) King. She worked as tax account in Illinois.
She moved to Florida in 2004, coming from Freeport, Illinois. She and her husband first settled in Ft. Myers. In 2007, they moved to Anna Maria. While living in Anna Maria, Mrs. Anderson volunteered with the Roser Memorial Community Church’s food pantry.
There will be no local services. Visitation and services will be held in Freeport, under the direction of the Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home. Memorial donations may made to the Roserf ood pantry. Condolences may be made online at www.shannonfuneralhomes.com.
She is survived by her husband of 21 years, Barry; brother Scott and wife Kathy King of Freeport; and many extended family members and friends.
Barbara Bacich
Barbara Bacich, longtime Anna Maria resident, died Feb. 19. She was born July 17, 1937, to Jennings and Virginia Madsen.
She attended the University of Minnesota, graduating with a degree in humanities, and four years later, graduating with a law degree.
She married John Bacich in 1965 in Minneapolis. Together they acquired diverse holdings in real estate, banking, investments and commercial interests.
When visiting Anna Maria in the early 1970s, they fell in love with the quiet, quaint old Florida lifestyle the island offered. They bought the last empty Gulffront lot, where they built their beach house.
Soon after, they became permanent residents, returning to Minnesota only for a few summer months.
Mrs. Bacich was an accomplished portrait artist who studied at the Longboat Key Art Center and later studied watercolor technique with Herbie Rose in Bradenton’s Village of the Arts. Other interests included genealogy, travel and her flower garden in Minnesota.
Funeral services were held in Minneapolis, where she is interred beside her husband at Lakewood Cemetery.
She is survived by brother James, sister Diana, nephew David and niece Jennifer.
Jane E. Winegarden
Jane E. Winegarden, 94, died April 6.
She was a resident of Freedom Village and formerly of the Perico Bay Club in Bradenton for more than 30 years.
She was a former special education teacher at Groves High School in Birmingham, Michigan. She loved playing bridge and even wrote a book on learning to play bridge after coaching the high school bridge team. She also was a lifetime master in duplicate bridge.
She traveled worldwide, sometimes with her late husband Lewis, other times with her children or friends. After retiring to Florida, she continued playing bridge, along with being a member of AAUW and Faith Methodist Church. She and her husband of 70 years were members of the Key Royale Club in Holmes Beach, where they enjoyed playing golf in several leagues.
A celebration of life was held April 11 at the Faith United Methodist Church in Bradenton. Donations may be made to TideWell Hospice. Covell Funeral Home handled arrangements.
She is survived by twin sister Jean Elaine Hoyer of Michigan and Arizona; daughter Lynne L. Lampman of Bushnell; son Jonathan J. and wife Marsha of Bloomfield, Michigan, and Cortez; son Robert L. of Garner, North Carolina; six grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
