A Holmes Beach live-in caretaker pleaded no contest to felony theft and was sentenced to two years probation —yet remains subject to court proceedings following a June hit-and-run.
Kelly Jo Keiter, 48, was sentenced Sept. 11 by 12th Judicial Circuit Judge Deno Economou for an April 17 shoplifting at the Ellenton Walmart.
Keiter’s sentence also includes an 11 p.m.-6 a.m. curfew and a 30-day work offender program.
Economou withheld her adjudication based on successful completion of her probation. Keiter must pay $713 in court, prosecution and investigative costs as a condition of her probation.
The April incident was the fourth time since 2009 Keiter was arrested for theft, according to a Manatee County Sheriff’s Office report.
In a July case against Keiter, the state attorney charged her with leaving the scene of an accident and driving on a suspended license after a June 23 hit-and-run in West Bradenton.
She pleaded not guilty to the charges in August.
Keiter’s next court date is Oct. 6 at the Manatee County Judicial Center, 1051 Manatee Ave. W., Bradenton.
