Alcohol-related reckless driving — also known as a wet-reckless — was the charge that stuck against a motorist in Holmes Beach whose breath samples measured over the legal limit.
Jhon Faver Garcia Zamora, 26, of Bradenton, pleaded no contest to the first-degree misdemeanor in December after an assistant state attorney amended the original second-degree charge of driving under the influence.
Judge Mark Singer sentenced Zamora to 12 months probation, including DUI school, a victim-impact panel and 50 hours of public service.
Singer also suspended Zamora’s driver’s license for six months and ordered his vehicle impounded for 10 days. He was fined $1,026.
Holmes Beach Officer Alan Bores had stopped Zamora in November for speeding in the 5200 block of Gulf Drive and described him as impaired.
After his arrest for DUI, breath samples taken from Zamora at Manatee County jail measured 0.111 and 0.103 BAC. The legal limit is 0.08.
