Janet Eileen Mitchell,
Janet Eileen Mitchell, 81, of Holmes Beach, died Feb. 18.
She was born April 18, 1934, in New York City to Einar Leopold Konstantine and Ellen (Seppanen) Ertman.
She was a loving wife and mother raising her children in Ramsey, New Jersey.
She was a regular visitor to Holmes Beach beginning in 1986 and moved to the city permanently in 2015. She attended St. Bernard Catholic Church in Holmes Beach.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Feb. 22 at Bernard Catholic Church in Holmes Beach. Memorial donations may be made to the Salvation Army, 1204 14th St. W., Bradenton, Fl. 34205. Condolences may be made to www.shannonfuneralhomes.com.
She is survived by husband Thomas Edward Sr.; sons Thomas Edward Jr. and wife Donna of Ringwood, New Jersey, Michael Thomas and wife Allison of Raleigh, North Carolina; daughter Kathleen and husband George Fraser of Scottsdale, Arizona; brother Frans Ertman of Southbury, Connecticut; sisters Eleanor Ray of Pinehurst, North Carolina, and Hedy Sharp of Southbury, Connecticut; four grandchildren, one great-grandchild and many extended family members and friends.
Matthew Peter Welch
Matthew Peter Welch, 46, of Holmes Beach, died Feb. 16.
He taught at Moody Elementary School for 18 years. He was an avid fisherman and surfer. He will be remembered as a loving husband and devoted father, as well as a loyal friend and colleague.
A memorial service was held Feb. 20 at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Holmes Beach. Memorial donations may be made to Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 6608 Marina Drive, Holmes Beach.
Survivors include wife Mona Calhoon; son Rory; daughter Sage; brothers Frederick Karl Jr. and William; sisters Pamela Benham, Robyn Bensinger and Jill; nephew Frederick Karl III; and many nieces and nephews.
