A local observance of National Night Out will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 2, in city field, 5801 Marina Drive Holmes Beach.
The presenters include the Home Sweet Home, Manatee County Emergency Operations Center, West Manatee Fire Rescue, Manatee County Neighborhood Connections, the local Humane Society chapter, Holmes Beach Police Department and its Neighborhood Watch program, Anna Maria Island Turtle Watch and Shorebird Monitoring and CPT Nation Fitness.
“National Night Out is an islandwide opportunity for police and members of the community to informally discuss community concerns and strengthen our partnership,” HBPD Chief William Tojaker said in a news release.
The chief said the event will feature children’s activities — a bounce house, dunk tank and more — as well as bicycle giveaways, music and food.
“We will have many of your brave professional police officers on hand to meet and greet,” Tokajer added.
Thousands of U.S. and Canadian communities annually observe National Night Out. The majority of celebrations take place the first Tuesday in August but some communities celebrate on the first Tuesday in October.
Observances also take place on U.S. military bases worldwide.
