A man who gave up his keys and apologized to a Bradenton Beach officer after nearly hitting the officer’s vehicle pleaded no contest Dec. 6.
Jason Day, 29, of Bradenton Beach, was found guilty of driving under the influence of alcohol and sentenced to 12 months probation.
Twelfth Circuit Judge Charles Sniffin ordered Day to complete a DUI program and take part in a victim-impact panel.
The judge also suspended Day’s license for six months and ordered 50 hours of public service, a 10-day vehicle impoundment and a vehicle-ignition device installed for six months. The motorist was assessed $2,416 in fines and court costs.
Day was ticketed Oct. 4 for failing to yield the right of way by turning from Gulf Drive, east onto Cortez Road, in front of Officer John Tsakiri’s vehicle.
The ticket is pending, according to the court website.
