Adeline M. Billings

Adeline M. Billings died Jan. 4.

She was born June 2, 1927, in Cleveland.

A resident of the West Winds Condominiums of Holmes Beach from the early 1990s to 2012, she lived with her brother, Ted, until his death in 2000.

As a graduate of Miami University with a degree in accounting, she couldn’t find work as an accountant in 1949 as those jobs went to men who had returned to the United States from fighting in World War II.

She went on to have a long career as a legal secretary in Cleveland and traveled the world with her legal secretaries’ association. Mexico was her favorite place to visit.

She enjoyed volunteering at the South Florida Museum in Bradenton and served as secretary on the board.

As a young woman, she traveled quite a few times to Florida with her parents and was lucky enough to retire here.

She is survived by niece Christine Tosun of Sleepy Hollow, Illinois, and nephew John Billings, of Northfield, Ohio.
