Esther Foor Cromer Brown
Esther Foor Cromer Brown, 99, of Anna Maria, died May 14, months short of her 100th birthday. She was born in St. Marys (Mercer County), Ohio, Oct. 9, 1911, and came to Manatee County from Dayton, Ohio, in 1972.
Mrs. Cromer Brown was active in Eastern Star, parent-teacher organizations in her children’s schools and was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Bradenton and Dayton, Ohio.
A memorial service for family was to be held at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Bradenton. Memorial contributions may be made to the church, 3011 19th Ave. W., Bradenton FL 34205. Memorial services also are planned for family in Piqua, Ohio, and Mercer County, Ohio.
Mrs. Cromer Brown is survived by daughter Paula and husband Tim Sullivan of Anna Maria; sons Philip and wife Bette of Eureka Springs, Ark., and John and wife Pam of Indianapolis; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Helen J. Clements
Helen J. Clements, 88, of Holmes Beach, died June 8 in Westerville, Ohio. She was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio.
She served in the U.S. Navy Waves during World War II. Mrs. Clements was a member of the Key Royale Club and Bradenton Country Club, Eastern Star, Salvation Army and Garden Club. She loved to play cards with friends at Key Royale. She was an avid Ohio State fan, and was part owner of Carr Manufacturing Co., now known as Carr Supply.
Visitation was to be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. with a service following at 11 a.m. June 14 at Crosspointe Fellowship, 8605 Gulf Drive, Anna Maria. Memorial donations may be made to Acclaim Hospice, 2800 Corporate Exchange, No. 140, Columbus OH 43231-7650. Arrangements were by Griffith-Cline Funeral Home.
Survivors include son Daniel and wife Beverly Lynn; daughters Christine and husband Robert Riley and Diane and husband Jim; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Jane and husband Logan Haggard; and many nieces and nephews.
Brenda Huelsman
Brenda Huelsman, 71, of Sarasota and formerly of Anna Maria Island, died May 17.
Mrs. Huelsman found paradise on Anna Maria Island in 1988 as a bartender, office manager and “director of fun” for more than 22 years at the Anna Maria Island Moose Lodge No. 2188.
A memorial Service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 18, on the beach at the Moose Lodge, 110 Gulf Drive, Bradenton Beach. Refreshments and food will be offered in the lodge following the service and everyone is welcome.
Jeannette ‘Jan’ Shuart
Jeannette “Jan” Shuart died June 7. She was born May 26, 1931, in Upper Saddle River, N.J. She came to Manatee County in 1970 from Pine Bush, N.Y., with and her late husband, Herb, and together they owned and operated Jan’s Hobby Shop in Holmes Beach. After selling the hobby shop, they moved to Bradenton.
Mrs. Shuart was a member of Church of Cross and an avid arts and crafts person.
Visitation was held June 9 at Shannon Funeral Home, Westview Chapel, Bradenton. A celebration of life was held June 10 at the Church of Cross, Bradenton.
