Gulf Drive lane closure Sept. 14

The Florida Department of Transportation said the northbound lane of State Road 789 (Gulf Drive) between Ninth and Tenth streets north in Bradenton Beach would be closed from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14, while Verizon work crews repair cable in the area.

A flagging operation will be in place and motorists are advised to use caution when driving in the area.

The DOT also is advising motorists in Anna Maria driving near the boardwalk under construction along the Anna Maria City Pier shoreline to exercise caution when in the area.

A DOT press release said the 850-foot boardwalk is open for use, as are the two shelters at the pier entrance, but some construction is still occurring on the south portion of the project and heavy equipment is in use.

The project is expected to finish by mid-October, the DOT said.
