Fresh tracks

Resident Kathy Caserta, who has a bird’s eye view of the beach at 30 Street in Holmes Beach, tracks sea turtle nesting and other activities on the shore. She awakened June 9 to fresh sea turtle tracks reaching midway toward the dunes. Soon after, Anna Maria Island Turtle Watch and Shorebird Monitoring volunteers Hans-Uwe Duerr and Birgit Kremer documented the nest. Caserta’s site as of June 16 had six nests.
