Island police reports

Streetlife is based on incident reports from the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office and Bradenton Beach and Holmes Beach police departments.
Anna Maria
March 6, 300 block of North Shore Drive, fraud. The MCSO responded to a report of fraud from a complainant who said payee information on a mailed check was altered before being cashed.
Bradenton Beach
March 12, 200 block of First Street North, found property. Cleaning staff in a rental unit found plastic bags containing suspected heroin, cocaine and methamphetamine, along with drug paraphernalia. The BBPD collected the items for destruction.
Cortez
March 4, 4300 block of 123rd Street West, assault. The MCSO received a report in which a woman stated she was struck by her roommate the previous day. No contact was made with the alleged attacker at the time of the report.
Holmes Beach
March 10, Manatee Public Beach, 4000 Gulf Drive, underage alcohol/fake ID. HBPD Chief Bill Tokajer was patrolling the beach and found a group, including minors, with alcohol. An HBPD officer arrested one 19-year-old for a fake ID and underage drinking. He was transported to the Manatee County jail.
March 16, Island Shopping Center, 5400 Marina Drive, trespassing. An officer found a man sleeping around 4:03 a.m. on the backside of the plaza, despite being recently trespassed from the same property. The officer issued a court summons.
March 16, Manatee Public Beach, 4000 Gulf Drive, camping. An officer found a man sleeping near the beach cafe around 4:47 a.m., while the park was closed and the gates were locked. The officer recognized the man from a previous encounter, woke him and informed him he could not camp within city limits. The officer offered the man a ride to a homeless shelter, but he refused. The officer issued a court summons to the man, who left the area without issue.
