Island police reports

Streetlife is based on incident reports from the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office and Bradenton Beach and Holmes Beach police departments.

Anna Maria

May 29, 400 block of South Bay Boulevard, recovered vehicle. An MCSO deputy documented the recovery of a stolen vehicle.

May 29, Two Scoops, 101 S. Bay Blvd., disturbance. A complainant said a customer threw ice cream onto a counter, became aggressive and left without paying.

May 31, Anna Maria City Pier, 100 S. Bay Boulevard, trespass. A deputy responded to a report of people on the pier, which is closed. No one was present when the MCSO arrived.

Bradenton Beach

        May 29, Coquina Beach, 2600 block of Gulf Drive S., Coquina Beach, public assistance. The BBPD responded to callers who said they were locked in the parking lot after hours.

May 30, Coquina Beach, 2600 block of Gulf Drive S., Coquina Beach, public assistance. The BBPD responded to the concession area, where people said they were locked in the parking lot after hours.

Cortez

        No new reports.

Holmes Beach

June 5, 500 block of 69th Street, assault. An HBPD officer responded around 10:41 p.m. to reports of assault from people who said they were fishing in a canal when a man screamed at them to turn off their lights, or he’d “put bullets in their heads.” They left and returned to the boat ramp, where they met with police. Three officers visited the residence where the suspect was last seen but were unable to contact anyone.

June 6, Anchor Inn, 3007 Gulf Drive, disturbance. A bartender said two groups got into an argument in the bar but had split up, with one inside and one outside. HBPD officers spoke with the involved parties. They said a verbal argument had been sparked between exes, but nothing physical happened. A live 9-mm round was found at the scene.

June 8, Kingfish Boat Ramp, 752 Manatee Ave., suspicious circumstances. An officer found a vehicle with a pile of personal items next to it and contacted its registered owner. A woman arrived and it was determined someone threw her things from the vehicle onto the ground. She said it may have been a man whom she had boated with earlier that day.

June 8, The Feast, 5406 Marina Drive, larceny. The restaurant owners said they had camera footage of a person removing a wooden menu board while accompanied by another individual. The owners provided footage of the incident to HBPD.

June 9, 3900 block of East Bay Drive, disturbance. An officer responded to reports of people in the bed of a pickup truck throwing water balloons at people. The officer found a truck with two juveniles riding in its bed and conducted a traffic stop. The driver was cited for allowing juveniles to ride in the bed of the truck.
