Crews from DredgeMonster Inc. have been in Anna Maria the past few weeks dredging the Lake LaVista inlet channel to ease boater access.
The project, funded in part by a West Coast Inland Navigational District matching grant, is renewed in Anna Maria about every 18 months, said public works director George McKay. The city’s portion of the $270,000 WCIND grant is $135,000.
Sand dredged by the project is being placed on the shoreline north and south of the city pier at 100 Bay Blvd.
McKay said the project should be finished by the third week in February.
