Dana Holmes
Dana Holmes, 90, died Feb. 28. She was born in Manhattan, N.Y., Oct. 29, 1920. She resided in Medford, N.J., and Holmes Beach, and most recently in Somerset, N.J.
She attended Randolph Macon Women’s College in Lynchburg, Va., and then worked at Harper’s Bazaar magazine in the advertising department. Later, she and husband William of 40 years owned and operated a travel agency for more than 20 years in Moorestown, N.J. They traveled and played golf together all over the world.
Funeral Services were private. Bongiovi Funeral Home of Raritan, N.J., was in charge of arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to the Plainfield Area Humane Society, 75 Rock Ave., North Plainfield NJ 07063.
Mrs. Holmes is survived by her children, Christopher and wife Theresa Viviano of Scott Township, Pa., and Kim and husband Richard Gargiule of Bridgewater; three grandchildren, Jason Richard, Dana Elizabeth, and Emily Kim; and several nieces and nephews.
Dora L. Pencosky
Dora L. Pencosky, 87, of Holmes Beach, died March 1.
Funeral services were March 4 at Roser Memorial Community Church in Anna Maria. Arrangements were by Toale Brothers Funeral Home.
Mrs. Pencosky’s survivors include daughter Cynthia Perenetti of Holmes Beach; sons Richard of Bradenton and Edward of Manorville, N.Y.; sisters Viola Wagner and Doris Rankin; brothers Herbie Watson and Jobie Watson; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Belinda Fulford Porterfield
Belinda Fulford Porterfield, 81, of Montgomery, Ala., died Feb. 22. She was born in Cortez to early settlers Walton “Tink” and Edith Wilson Fulford.
She grew up in Cortez and graduated from Bradenton High School and David Lipscomb College. She taught elementary school for the Montgomery Public Schools for more than 35 years. She was a preacher’s wife, and along with husband Oliver, served at the Cleveland Avenue Church of Christ and later the Seibels Road Church of Christ in Montgomery for almost 40 years.
A funeral service was held Feb. 26 at Leak-Memory Chapel with the Revs. Steve Housley and Jim Morris officiating. Burial was at Greenwood Cemetery in Montgomery. Memorial donations may be made to Eastern Meadows Church of Christ Building Fund.
Mrs. Porterfield is survived by sons Randal and wife Cecilia of Montgomery, Stephen and wife Donna and Ronald, both of Birmingham, Ala.; sisters Mary Fulford Green of Cortez, Irene Taylor and Anna Dean Riddick, both of Mount Airy, N.C.; brothers Wayne Fulford and Gary Fulford, both of Cortez; grandchildren Mallory, Randal, Connor, Miranda and Caroline; and caregivers Mary Ann Thompson and Margaret Green.
Willie ‘Brim’ Wilson
Willie “Brim” Wilson, 82, of Palmetto, died Feb. 28. He was born in Crystal River.
Mr. Wilson and was a member of Praise Deliverance and Salvation Inc. of Bradenton.
Services were March 5 at Salvation and Praise Church of the Living God in Bradenton. Interment will be in Skyway Memorial Gardens in Palmetto. Arrangements were by Westside Funeral Home.
Mr. Wilson’s survivors include sons Melvin and Kelvin, both of Bradenton; daughters Yvonnie Times, Clorita Morland and Patricia Green, all of Palmetto, and Adrienna Boles of Bradenton Beach, and Teri Gibson of Ruskin; 18 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
